about

Remind Yourself is the third and final release of a series in which I strived to explore the single as an art form.

The title track was written and recorded in 2007 at The Treehouse near Fry Road in Houston, TX. This was just a few blocks from The Diamond which was a very special hangout spot with a skate-worthy concrete slab on a bayou bordering a lovely little forest. It was a formative place that is now buried under dirt and deep inside my mind. I was a very different person back then and this song reflects that. It’s an ode to growth and celebrating who we are because (or in spite) of who we used to be.

Anna Closes the Door ( Run Your Nation ) was recorded in the garage of The Westgreen House in Katy, TX sometime in 2009. Unfortunately, the subject matter and origin of this song is something I’m uncomfortable divulging since I don’t have the consent of the person I was “singing to”. You’ll have to read the lyrics and draw your own conclusion if you care. OR do what I do : Don’t pay any attention to the words. Just groove with it.
In spite of the awkward feelings associated with it and the vulnerability that comes with releasing a personal track like this, I think it's a fun song that was a blast to play and should be heard. I've always been a sucker for a folky, up-tempo, acoustic wailer. Enjoy!
